Dog Obedience Trials

Welcome

Watch for the development of the Dog Obedience Trials website towards the end of 2006.

DogObedienceTrials.com will be a comprehensive information site with articles detailing the 'how to' of training your dog or puppy in all the requisite training steps necessary to compete at the three levels of dog obedience competition: novice obedience training, open obedience training, and utility obedience training. Everything you need to know for your canine's obedience training at all three levels will eventually be covered here.

The first section I will be developing will relate to Open Obedience Training. I will be progressively publishing a series of articles detailing the following steps for the second level of your dog's obedience training.

These steps will detail the how to of training for:

  • Heeling

  • Drop In The Distance

  • Drop On Recall

  • Retrieve In Play

  • Holding On Command

  • Carrying On Command

  • Jumping

  • Jumping While Carrying

  • The "Take it!"

  • Reaching For The Dumbbell While Walking

  • Picking Up The Dumbbell From The Ground

  • Picking Up The Dumbbell On Command While Walking

  • Retrieve On Flat

  • Retrieve Over Hurdle

  • The Broad Jump

  • Sit and Down Stays (Handlers out of sight)

I will also be adding a forum to this site so that obedience trainers can share their tips and experience with others. This will not only be a stand-alone information site, it will also become a community site for others to share and discuss their experiences. Please bookmark this page, and come back in the coming months to be a part of it's development.

Warmly,
